Supertowel - FAQs

Supertowel™ – Frequently Asked Questions FAQ

How can Supertowel be used for handwashing?

The Supertowel is made from microfiber fabric treated with a permanent antimicrobial surface. To use it, simply dip the cloth in water, wring it out, and then wipe your hands with it, in the same way you would wash your hands with soap. When damp, the Supertowel can be carried with you and reused multiple times throughout the day.

Does Supertowel require soap to work?

No. Supertowel works without the use of soap when used for handwashing.

However, after repeated use, it may become visibly dirty, and it's a good idea to wash it to keep it clean and pleasant to use.

How much water do I need for Supertowel?

According to our laboratory tests, approximately 760 ml of water is used for handwashing with soap for 15 seconds, and around 1,650 ml for 60 seconds of handwashing.

In contrast, Supertowel requires only about 52 ml of water and can then be used damp for 3-5 hours. In areas with water scarcity, this can save a significant amount of water in daily life.

How can I use Supertowel outside the home?

Supertowel is easy to carry on the go and ideal for hand cleaning in public environments where access to water and soap is not always available.

Store it in a small bag to keep it damp and ready for use for longer.

Can Supertowel be used with unclean water, e.g., from lakes or rivers?

Yes, Supertowel can be used even if the water is not clean. The antimicrobial technology kills microorganisms in the water, making the cloth safe to use.

In laboratory tests, Supertowel was tested with water contaminated with non-pathogenic E. coli, and the results showed that it is as effective as handwashing with soap.

How do I maintain my Supertowel?

If the Supertowel gets dirty or starts to smell, it can be washed in clean water or soapy water. It can be washed with regular laundry and requires no special products.

We recommend soaking the cloth, gently rubbing it with soap, squeezing out the water, and letting it dry in fresh air.

Should Supertowel be dried after use?

No, it is not necessary to dry it for it to work. The antimicrobial technology also works while the cloth is damp.

However, we recommend hanging it to dry after use to keep it fresh and ready for next time.

Does Supertowel work if it gets greasy or dirty?

Yes. Laboratory tests have shown that Supertowel remains effective even when soiled with oil or mud. However, visible dirt can make it less appealing to use, so we recommend washing it regularly.

How does Supertowel remove and kill bacteria?
Supertowel works through two mechanisms:

1.The microfiber structure effectively removes bacteria and dirt from hands and surfaces. Microfibers consist of thousands of fine threads that increase the contact surface, making the fabric particularly effective at collecting microorganisms.

2.The antimicrobial treatment kills the microorganisms removed from the hands or surface. The treatment is non-toxic, permanently bound to the fibers, and releases no chemicals during use. It is also used in sportswear, medical implants, and odor-inhibiting textiles.

3.It works by means of positively charged carbon chains that attract pathogens and destroy their cell walls, thereby killing them.

How long does a Supertowel last?

Supertowel can generally be used for up to 12 months, depending on how often and how intensely it is used.

In laboratory tests, the towel showed a bactericidal effect of over 99.99%, and even after 100 machine washes, it retained over 80% of its effectiveness.
Field tests conducted in Nigeria showed results that Supertowel remained effective after both 3 and 6 months of use.
However, after 6–12 months, it may be necessary to replace the towel, as it can eventually become worn, torn, or look dirty, which can affect the willingness to use it.

How long does effective hand cleaning with Supertowel take?

Just as with handwashing with soap, the longer you use it, the better the effect.

We recommend 30 seconds of hand cleaning, which typically results in a bacterial reduction of approximately 99.9%.

Is Supertowel as effective as soap?

Yes. Laboratory studies show that Supertowel can be as effective, and in some cases more effective, than handwashing with soap and water.

Tests conducted according to the European standard (EN 1499) for hand hygiene products show that Supertowel removes bacteria as well as or better than soap when used for 30–60 seconds.

However, it is important to emphasize that Supertowel is not intended as a replacement for soap, but as a reliable alternative in situations where soap and clean water are not available.

Handwashing with soap remains one of the most effective methods to prevent infection and illness.
