What material is Heartcup made of?
Heartcup is made of soft medical grade silicon.
Does it contain harmful chemicals?
No, the soft medical grade silicone is safe for the body. Heartcup is also latex-free and
does not contain dyes, bleaches or toxins. It does not contain any
absorbency gels, additives or perfumes. Also, it is free from pesticides
and GM materials.
How many types of Heartcup do you have?
Heartcup comes in three colors depending on the level of thickness. The size is the same for all three types.
The pink one is the softest. The purple one is normal/ medium thickness. While the light blu one is the hardest designed for women who practice a lot of sport and activities.
How do I understand which one is better for me?
There are some parameters to understand which Heartcup is for you.
-Sexual activity: If you haven’t had sexual activity yet, the pink cup is recommended. If you already experienced/ are active regarding sex either the purple or blu cup is advised.
-Sport: If you are practicing extreme sports, or exercising often the blu cup is better, due to the fact that it is firmer and has less chances of moving during sport. In the opposite scenario either pink or purple will fit you.
-Preferences: besides the above parameters you should keep in mind that all vaginas are different. For example you might prefer to use a softer cup although you are sexually active.
Can Heartcup be used as a birth-control method, or for STD protection?
No, Heartcup is intended only as a menstrual product. It doesn’t protect against STD transmission nor against pregnancies.
Can I have sex while wearing Heartcup?
No, you can’t have penetrative sex while wearing Heartcup. You can have oral sex but Heartcup has to be removed before intercourse.
How should I wash heartcup before using it for the first time?
The first time you are using Heartcup you should wash your hands with a neutral soap.
it is advised to boil the cup for 5-10 minutes in order to sterilize it.
Can I wash the cup in the dishwasher or washing machine?
No, it is not safe to do that.
How should I wash the cup between changes?
When you are changing Heartcup you should empty the blood in the toilet or the sink. You can wash it under warm water with some mild soap without perfumes or harmful chemicals. If you want to make it extra clean you can boil it every time you are changing it before inserting it again. Be sure you are unclogging the holes on the
What if I need to change it, and I don’t have access to water and soap?
We don’t recommend reinserting the cup without washing it. If not cleaned, there is a higher chance of bringing bacteria inside the vagina facilitating infections. If you know you will not have access to proper cleaning facilities we advise you to bring with you Safepad and use it as a substitute until you have the option to clean the cup properly.

How often should I change the cup?
This depends on how heavy your flow is. The cup itself can hold an amount of 20ml. When you first start using the cup it can be helpful to check after 4-6 hours from the first insertion to acknowledge the amount of blood in the cup and therefore know more about how often you should change it. If after 4-6 hours the cup is full then you may clean it and re-insert it. If it is not full yet next time you know you can wear it for a longer period, maximum of 12 hours.
The flow is different for every girl and woman, therefore it is recommended to get comfortable with your menstrual cycle.
Can I use lube to insert Heartcup more easily?
Yes, if you feel more comfortable you may use water-base lube which don’t contain harmful chemicals. In that case apply a small amount, to make your cup insertion easier.
Is there the possibility that the cup might leak?
The cup could leak if is kept for too long. If your flow is heavy the cup should be changed before the 12 hours. If the cup is not inserted correctly the blood could be not going into the cup but leak out.
Be sure to insert the cup in the right way and to change it as often as needed depending on your flow.
Can I pull the stem to remove Heartcup?
The stem of the cup is not made for pulling/ removing the cup. It is not recommended to pull the stem when trying to remove the cup, because this can cause irritation and pain.
Be sure to pinch the cup on the sides to release the suction of Heartcup around the vaginal walls. The you can gently pull down the cup and remove it, without any fast and harsh action. Take your time.
